Harter Secrest & Emery LLP is a full-service business law firm representing clients ranging from individuals and family-owned businesses to Fortune 100 companies and major regional institutions. As the firm’s sole marketing professional, I’m responsible for directing and executing all marketing efforts across the firm’s five locations throughout New York, ensuring consistent coordination with the Business Development team. 

I manage relationships with over 130 attorneys across 40 practice areas to ensure MBD success, including Corporate, M&A, Litigation, Securities & Capital Markets, Labor and Employment, Immigration, Privacy and Data Security, Intellectual Property, Government Affairs, Insurance Coverage, Real Estate, Employee Benefits, and Higher Education.

What I accomplished last year:

  • Published 45 news releases, increasing output by 32% (compare to 34 news releases previous year)

  • Released 47 “In the News” features, increasing output by 68% (compare to 28 “In the News” Features previous year)

  • Created 41 modern hero banner designs to ensure home page is always fresh

  • Audited current website design and drafted list of suggested updates for future redesign

  • Collaborated with the HR Team to keep website up-to-date with current career opportunities for laterals, paralegals, and professional staff

  • Maintained Summer Program and Scholarship Program pages with up-to-date information in collaboration with HR Team

  • Provided concisemonthly Google Analytics reports with in-depth insights

  • Set up internal IP address filters in collaboration with IT Team for Google Analytics accounts

  • Generated comprehensive new GA4 Reporting Template to incorporate attorney bio page traffic, user behavior flow charts, and top visited pages on hselaw.com

  • Produced and sent 257 email campaigns to clients and contacts

  • Produced and sent 59 LEGALcurrents thought leadership email alerts, reformatting and publishing the content on helaw.com, increasing output by 26% (compare to 47 LEGALcurrents email alerts previous year)

  • Created and sent 7 practice group newsletters to clients and published each piece to our website, increasing output by 75% (compare to 4 newsletters previous year)

  • Produced Holiday gifting announcement for attorneys, researching new gifting options, designing email banner, and collaborating with BD Team for accurate gifting/holiday cards information

  • Developed 72-page attorney social media educational training presentation & Key Takeaways Checklist, providing personalized live training for various practice groups/partners throughout the year

  • Designed the firm’s first motion graphic animations for social media

  • Developed “What Are Other Firms Posting?” Research Presentation, examining how other law firms and attorneys successfully use LinkedIn to grow their practices and provide suggestions for strategic implementation of learnings

  • Conducted research and developed 47-page firm social media hashtag strategy

  • Launched “Where to Start” Privacy & Data Security Social Media Series and Infographics, building web pages, filming and editing video reels with attorneys, and designing infographic resources

  • Held frequent Social HP platform training sessions to teach new attorneys how to effectively utilize the platform, empowering attorneys to contribute to the firm’s brand reach across social media platforms 

  • Created and published posts for current job openings as needed to support HR Team

  • Presented marketing “Best Practices” Reports in the form of PowerPoint presentations and detailed notes, sharing my suggested strategic actions for the firm with the BD Team

  • Launched 2 brand new recurring webinar Series, generating average session attendance rate of 70% (compare to industry average webinar attendance rate of 40%)

  • Hosted 22 webinar sessions, including: designing website hero banner, recording video reels and creating graphics for social media promotion, building event web pages, building registration form, drafting/sending invitations and reminder-to-attend emails, hosting attorney practice session, shopping for “set props”, setting up “set” furniture and technology, managing live Zoom session, filtering through chat, building post-event survey, sending thank-you email, providing on-demand recording, aggregating analytics for post-event report, etc.

  • Recorded, edited, published, and promoted 3 LEGALnotes podcast episodes 

  • Promoted 46 attorney and firm events

  • Hosted Spring CLE Specialty Summit, making sure that the program was recorded, technology was running smoothly, and questions in the chat were answered. Created and sent a series of event invitations, manually sent registration confirmation emails, built event web page, managed registration and attendance, created post-event feedback survey, and provided post-event report for firm leadership/attorney review, sent thank-you for attending email

  • Analyzed Intranet design and provided UI/UX (user interface and experience) design suggestions to IT Support Specialist. Attended Intranet redesign meetings and provided input as needed

  • Initiated a new organized project management workflow for the MBD team in Asana, building 16 parent portfolios with various sub-portfolios and projects, increasing productivity and team collaboration. Provided workflow implementation coaching to CBDO and BD Team
